Snuggle Cape

I had some fleece that I never used from a previous project and leftover ribbon and a little boy who drags his blankie everywhere. I was hoping that making a cape of snuggly fabric maybe blankie could get a rest. So far no such luck.

Building of a Church: Backdrop

My first attempt at making a quilt top to be used as a backdrop. I made the bandng a pocket to be able to have a pole run throw it. I am not making a tutorial on the stand I made to go with it since it started to lean during the play.

Building of a Church: Ears

To go along with the tails I made 5 sets of ears. After searching the internet blogs for a bit I started to figure it out. I cut out 2 rounded bottom triangles and 2 smaller pink inner ear pieces.

Then I cut 3 small slits on the bottom of the ears to fold on itself and glue to make the ear cup.

I hot glued the ears to a headband and then sewed them aroung the headband for extra suport.

I added a tassel of yarn for the horses mane.

Building a Church: Robes

Part 2 of the costumes are generic robes. I wanted our church to use them for other projects so I choose neutral colors and mad a series of 12 "T" robes. I folded (half width-wise then length-wise) and cut a 40 inch length of cotton broadcloth. I cut an "L" shape to create the sleeve and body.

I cut a seam up the middle and a split in the neckline to make the opening of the robe. I estimated many of these measurements.

Sew bothsides of the "L"s and the opening and nekline of the robe. I folded over the top of the robe opening to a triangle to be able to sit flatter around the neck.

Here are the 12 robes. 4 horses, 2 disciples, woman, owner, captain, 2 old men. Ready for the church's Palm Sunday play.

Easter

After reading Happy Easter Splat my son wanted a really big Easter egg for Easter. So we have a 19 inch 16 inch and 12 inch egg. He also got to pick the color. I decided to "Spring" them up with some vinyal and my Silhouette..

Building of a Church

My family has been attending a newly formed church for a bit of time. Being that it is so new  (only 2 years total) it has many needs that lets my creative side flourish. I am going to tackle the Palm Sunday Play costumes. I figured I'd write about how I did this and some of the mistakes I run into. First up the 5 horse tails.

Horse Tails

I first started out with the arm workout. I pulled a length that was about 1 and 1/2 yards long and kept pulling and folding over until I reached the fullness I wanted about 1 inch diameter.

Next I wound the yard wound the middle to hold it together.

Then folded it in half and wound more yarn around the middle to make a nice finished off pony tail.

I repeated 4 more times for 5 perky tails ready to worn on the back of the robes I'm still tinkering with.

Silhoutte Machine

My loving husband bought me the silhouette sd machine I have been longing for. I had to muffle the squeal since it was delivered during naptime. Within and hour I was up and running seeing what I could create and making lists of thing to make later.  I whipped this up-cycle of a square vase. It has been sitting on my mantel and only looks good with I have flowers in it. Now it has a bit more presence, when I add some sand it look perfect.
